Gabrielle Timofeeva López

Gabrielle Timofeeva López is a mezzosoprano from San Juan, Puerto Rico, currently based in Chicago, who has been praised for her “sizable voice” of “amber beauty” that “combines penetrating top notes with a richly colored mid-range” by the South Florida Classical Review. Since moving to Illinois in 2022, she has performed as a soloist with the Five Cities Baroque Festival (Handel: Israel in Egypt; recital: Barbara Strozzi and her World; Bach: Saint John Passion), Chicago Philharmonic (concert: Somos Un Solo Pueblo, México y Puerto Rico), Orfeón San Juan Bautista (recital: Ánima y lira: canciones de arte y madrigales by Guarionex Morales Matos) and Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico (Mozart: Great Mass in C minor, Berlioz: Roméo et Juliette, Beethoven: 9th Symphony). She is a member of the Chicago Symphony Chorus and Grant Park Chorus, and appears regularly as a chorister with Music of the Baroque, Stare at the Sun, Bella Voce, The EcoVoice Project, Vox Madonna, and the Saint James Cathedral Choir, where she is a staff singer, for diverse programs ranging from early to new music. She is an alum of the American Bach Soloists Academy, Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute, Miami Music Festival, and of the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico, where she obtained a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. This season marks her debut singing with the Newberry Consort.
