The Mistress: Madame de Pompadour

Sunday May 10, 2020: 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm CDT

$40 – $50
Madame de Pompadour

While Madame de Pompadour is best known as mistress to Louis XV, she was no mere vixen. Mesmerizing, fiercely clever, beautiful, and a relentless social climber, de Pompadour ultimately rose to a powerful yet precarious position: chief confidante to the King.  In our season closer, guest-directed by Debra Nagy, we invite you to explore de Pompadour’s singular life through the music she loved to listen to and sing herself, including songs, cantatas, instrumental works, and opera excerpts by Jean-Philippe Rameau, Joseph Bodin de Boismortier, François Colin de Blamont, Pierre de la Garde, and more. Guest directed by Debra Nagy.
