Lucía Mier y Terán Romero

Born and raised in Mexico City, Lucía Mier y Terán Romero holds a bachelor’s degree in singing from UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico). In 2011 she received a scholarship to perform rediscovered Mexican Music; with which she worked on Mexican Viceregal Music by composers like Manuel de Sumaya and Ignacio Jerusalem among others. She holds and MA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College Chicago and continues her singing training with Ellen Hargis. She was part of the Newberry Consort’s programs Rosa das Rosas in 2015 and Juan de Lienas: Vespers from Convento de la Encarnación in 2016 as well as A Mexican Christmas in 2018 and 2019. She can be heard on the Consort’s CDs of both these programs. In Chicago she has also performed with The Chicago Dance Theater Ensemble, Third Eye Theater Ensemble, Walkabout Theater, Erica Mott Productions and Theater Unspeakable, with which she is currently a cast member and music director.
